American Fascism
The United States of America is in real danger. Of the two major parties, one has embraced fascist tactics, and a strong-man leader. Donald Trump may be out of office, but that is not the end of the danger he has unleashed. This essay stands as part of the written record of our time, and as a plea to keep working toward justice until the fascists have been driven from Washington.

Black Lives Matter for White People
This essay explores why so many comfortable, privileged white people like me are taking to the streets to protest police brutality against black people in America. It has taken a lot to wake us up to the injustice happening in plain sight, but now that we are awake, it is our responsibility to make our voices heard so these actions won't stand, and to demand systemic changes to address the problem.

Why Do We Work?
Working for a living might feel like the natural order and a social good. But is it really either of those things? What happens when automation takes over all work? It has already replaced a significant chunk of manual labor; it has begun to replace white collar work, and may even someday replace creative careers. This essay provide the intellectual underpinning of my novel "Singularity Heights" which explores our society in a fully automated future that we fail to plan for.
